The film, Fading Gigolo, stars Woody Allen as Murray the bookseller-turned-pimp who is desperate to avoid bankruptcy until he meets two mature women at a doctor’s appointment who are interested in having a threesome.
Murray immediately thinks of his employee Fioravante (Turturro), to perform as a gigolo for the two women and plots to pimp him out to save his business Eventually, emotions get in the way when Fioravante gets trapped in a love triangle he finds hard to understand.
The film, which is Allen’s first starring role outside his own films for over a decade, also stars Sharon Stone, Sofia Vergara, Bob Balaban, Vanessa Paradis and Live Schreiber.
Turturro was honoured at the Cannes Film Festival in 1991 for his role in the Coen brothers’ Barton Fink and at the festival in 1992 where he received the Golden Camera award.
Fading Gigolo will be released in US theatres in the fall.
