Public Enemy star, Chuck D, recently went on a massive Twitter rant about Rolling Stone magazine and how they are seriously lacking in rap in it’s “Best Live Acts Now” cover feature.
He claims that all of the rappers on the list seems to have been just taken from the top rappers on the radio today rather than live arena acts.
Chuck D is currently on a King of the Mic tour with his group, Public Enemy, as well as LL Cool J, featuring DJ Z-Trip, Ice Cub and De La Soul. He suggests that the rappers that were featured on the list, Jay-Z, The Roots and Kanye West, would struggle to hold their own if they were on the King of the Mic tour.
His Twitter rant was pretty epic in the sense that there are a lot of spelling errors, words smashed together (because 140 characters is never enough, I mean come on) and actually some things that just don’t make much sense.
He ended his rant (sort of) by talking about how classic rappers like Doug E Fresh, Rum DMC and Beastie Boys taught Public Enemy to play live for 26 years, and helped mentor them all the way to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, where they were inducted earlier this year.
