It has been 50 years since The Beatles stormed the music industry and became one of the most iconic musical acts in history. In honor of this, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, and a smattering of budding acts, are banding together to produce Beatles Reimagined, featuring the Fab 4’s music made between 1963 and 1964.

“The Beatles are the band I think of the most when I’m considering if the music I’m making is good enough,” Alex Ebert, lead-singer of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, confessed during a press release from the album’s label, Community Music.

The re-mastered album is scheduled to be released on October 1, and a portion of the album’s profits will be donated to youth and music charities.

Much like Love before it, Reimagined will not be an album of covers, but rather new versions of the originals interlaced with the additional sound of some indie-rock bands.

This project was prompted after Twitter exploded with oblivious adolescents asking who the hell Paul McCartney was, and why this old guy was performing at the Grammys. Husney decided to pursue this project and team with Community Music in an attempt to bring the Millennial generation awareness of the once-in-a-lifetime band.

This information saddens, appalls and bewilders me. If there is one thing we cannot neglect to teach our children, it is to appreciate good, high quality music. The kind of which we are sorely lacking these days. The Beatles are a perfect place to begin cultivating this education.
