Microsoft will no longer be supporting the Games for Windows Live Marketplace come August 22, Joystiq reports. That’s the marketplace only, mind you. Previously bought games will still be available to users through the Windows Live client. So don’t worry, people. You’ll still get to hold on to your old games, as well as your hard earned achievements.

Purchasing games, well, that’s another matter.

As reported before, Microsoft points are going to be discontinued. According to IGN, it’s probably in our best interests to spend whatever amount of points we have left in our accounts or risk losing those funds.

All subsequent Microsoft points cards that are redeemed after August 22 will add your local currency equal to or more that your point value.

For a more complete review of the changes coming to the Xbox 360 system once August 22 rolls around, take a look at Microsoft’s official support page here.
