While it remains unclear whether Cooper would take on the role as Armstrong or Tyler Hamilton, his teammate that unveiled his doping habits on a 60 Minutes segment, he is also looking to join as a producer.

However, it looks as though there is a race to the production finishing line as Warner Bros. are not alone in their desires to create a biopic about the disgraced athlete.

Working Title are producing a drama written by John Hodge (Trainspotting), and they already have their Lance Armstrong in the form of Ben Foster. Paramount Pictures, Bad Roboy, JJ Abrams, and Bryan Burk are also underway in their adaptation of Juliet Macur’s book, Cycle of Lies: The Fall of Lance Armstrong.

After winning the Tour de France a record-breaking seven times only to then admit to doping, it is no wonder that he has become so interesting to movie makers. Each film will surely be compelling and insightful in its own way, permitting us entry to a controversial part of athletics that was a hot topic during London 2012.

Do you think Bradley Cooper is the man to take the lead, or is there someone better suited to sit on the saddle?
