There is a huge difference between what is seen on the big screen and what is seen on the little screen, especially when it comes to science fiction. Star Trek alum, William Shatner, understands that completely and would like to see the sci-fi show return to our televisions, he told NerdB**tards.

The actor simply differentiates between film and TV saying that, with films “you get a lot of the CGI effects, which is the epic movie-making aspect of today,” while with the small screen, to keep the audience enthralled “you need stories – entertaining, interesting, vital stories… that have a philosophy and also an excitement about them.”

In recent years, Star Trek has made a huge comeback, garnering more and more fans than the franchise had ever previously had. It has enraptured non-science fiction fans with its wonder and, as the 82-year old actor put it, “the majesty of the movie.”

Star Trek, released in 2009, had more of a wow factor than most of the past installments of the franchise. Previous installments, such as The Original Series, The Motion Picture and The Wrath of Khan dealt with more pressing issues such as gender, race and relationships.

Star Trek: Into Darkness (2013) gave many nods to the original series and specifically Wrath of Khan.
