Earlier today, fans of JJ Abram and his Bad Robot production company were offered a little tease of something coming through the line.
It’s a little strange.
The simply titled Stranger trailer features a monochromatic man walking along a darkened beach while narration speaks of life and choices. Then
bam
, it focuses in on a man, lit by fire, with his lips sewn shut.
Creepy much? Of course, the creep adds to the confusion and the, dare we say, odd enthusiasm. Entertainment Weekly has already offered up five theories on what the new trailer could possibly be and any one of them is plausible.
What I wouldn’t mind seeing is Abram’s take on the titular role of Loki Laufeyson from Norse mythology. Yes, I know Marvel already has their fingers in that pie.
Old Norse mythology also had a Loki; who was also a Frost Giant; who had his mouth stitched shut for punishment of his crimes.
While that theory is the least likey of them all, fans are still clambering to figure out what this strange teaser is. Unfortunately, Abrams isn’t talking.
It could be a new TV series. It could be a new movie (not related to Star Wars). It could be something ala Orange is the New Black that will be shown on the computer screen.
We just don’t know.
Until we find out, enjoy the theories, make a few of your own, watch the teaser, lament, and then rinse and repeat.
