Simon Pegg, one of the stars of Star Trek: Into Darkness and the upcoming The World’s End has recently addressed the hate that Into Darkness received from Trekkies claiming that Into Darkness is the worst Star Trek movie.
Pegg, who has played Scotty in the last two Star Trek films under director JJ Abrams, was very prolific in his words when discussing haters at the Star Trek 2013 Con’s “One Trek Mind Live” panel in Las Vegas earlier this month.
In an interview with The Huffington Post, he had this to say: “It’s asinine, you know? It’s ridiculous. And frustrating, as well, because a lot of hard work and love went into that movie, and all JJ wanted to do was make a film that people really enjoyed. So, to be subject to that level of sort of, like, crass f**king ire, I just say, ‘F**k you’.”
When asked about what he thought of the fan vote, he equated it to loving an indie band and then disliking them because they got a number one single and now they’re mainstream. He also noted that Into Darkness is the most successful film in the entire franchise in terms of box office sales.
Looks like the fans will just have to have their opinions, even if the numbers disagree.
