Speculation  over who he would play began when Huisman was cast, and HBO have refused to comment on the casting, but sources for The Hollywood Reporter have said that he is replacing Ed Skrein as Daario in season 4 of the series. Word of the casting, as we previously reported, began when Huisman’s trainer put a photo of him on Instagram, preparing for the role.

In season 3, Daario Naharis betrayed his friends and pledged his allegiance to Daenerys Targaryen and the pair may become love interests in later seasons.

This isn’t the first time Game of Thrones have recast characters. The roles of Gregor Clegane and Beric Dondarrion have been both recast between season 1 and 3 and most recently it was revealed that Dean-Charles Chapman will be replacing Callum Wharry as Joffrey’s little brother, Tommen in season 4. Wharry previously played Martin Lannister on the show that was killed by the Karstarks.

Huisman was most recently seen on Nashville as producer Liam McGuinnis, while Pedro Pascal, Indira Varma Roger Ashton-Griffiths, Joseph Gatt and Mark Gatiss are also joining the cast in Season 4.
