As we turn our calendar over and summer gives way to autumn, all us TV addicts give a cheer as our favourite shows start coming back from hiatus. The first sign that summer is fast coming to a close is the unveiling of the all important trailers and ITV has embraced the new month with a Downton Abbey season 4 preview.
While only clocking in at just over a minute long, the trailer provides us with glimpses of characters of all love as well as some new faces that will be joining the household. There’s also plenty of tears, plenty of smiles, plenty of hugs and plenty of what the English do best… drink tea.
As we eagerly wait to see how Lady Mary and her infant son, George, cope with the loss of Matthew, the trailer reveals the terrible choice before her… “you must choose either death or life”.

Downton Abbey returns to ITV on September 22 and to the US’s PBS on January 5.
