Could Breaking Bad’s Sleazy Lawyer Be Getting His Own Show?

Breaking Bad may be ending in a few weeks, but everyone’s favorite criminal attorney Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) is getting a spin-off – so it’s all good, man.

Showrunner Vince Gilligan revealed earlier in July that both he and Peter Gould, the writer who created the sleazy lawyer, are both hard at work on the project getting ready to pitch it to Sony.

But get this! Odenkirk knows very little of the spin-off details.

“I’m left out of that progress, or whatever’s happening there. I only hear rumors, just like you,” he told Rolling Stone.

Odenkirk trusts that Gilligan will go through with his project. He’s been grateful for being part of the Emmy nominated show.

As for what happens next, “I don’t know what’s going to happen, and my expectations are nonexistent,” he emphasized.

The finale airs on September 29th. It’s unclear whether or not Saul will survive. Odenkirk doesn’t even know.

He said: “I don’t know what happens in the end and I will be surprised just like you. I didn’t read it.”

That gives the spin-off two options. Gilligan revealed that it could follow Saul’s future endeavors or could be a prequel to the series, in which viewers will learn more about his past.

If it’s a prequel we could possibly see the return of Giancarlo Esposito as Gus Fring, the friendly restaurant owner who also happens to be a ruthless drug kingpin.

If the spin-off is green lit, maybe we’ll see more of season five Saul or what made him who he was.

“He’s a sleazy guy, he’s a shallow guy, he’s chasing money, but when his back is against the wall, you can see humanity leak out. I think he grew up in a house with a brother or two, and maybe a sister, and a mom who was nice to him, and a shitty dad, probably,” Odenkirk described his character. “But like a lot of people in our society, he’s encouraged to just express that side of his personality.”

While we wait to see what will come of our favorite attorney, make sure to watch the final episodes of Breaking Bad every Sunday night on AMC.

For all you fans in LA, a special screening fundraiser hosted by the cast and crew will take place at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery on September 29th.

Tickets will go on sale on September 4th for $45 here and all proceeds will go to the Kind Campaign.
