Say hello to your new favorite bad guys: detectives Rust Cohle and Martin Hart.

The handsome pair search for a serial killer in Louisiana—a case that has been open for 17 years—in HBO’s new crime drama, True Detective.

The first season, will be an eight-episode installment and is written by novelist Nic Pizzolatta and directed by Cary Fukunaga.

In HBO’s official trailer, McConaughey states “The world needs bad men. We keep the other bad men from the door.”

McConaughey’s haunting words are like a frigid breeze and set the anticipation for a riveting series. The darkness that follows every antihero will consume viewers as HBO unfolds the tale on-screen.

According to  The Hollywood Reporter, “True Detective’s first season will follow the 17-year hunt for the killer, with following seasons replacing the cast and story—a similar format that FX has employed for its hit American Horror Story from Glee co-creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk.”

The full-length trailer debuted Sunday night before the season premier of HBO’s popular series, Boardwalk Empire
