The Westboro Baptist protestors, who are infamously known for their anti-gay protests and picketing of funerals and concerts, chose the wrong guy to pick on this week.
The anti-gay group picketed outside of a Vince Gill concert in Kansas City, Missouri, only to find that the Country star was not about to let them get away without a few choice words. The group chose Gill because they disagreed with his divorce in 1998 followed by his marriage to fellow Grammy winner, Amy Grant. Vince took the protestors head on and the confrontation was all caught on tape.
The Hollywood Reporter posted a transcription of the interaction:
“Vince Gill, what in the world are you doing out here?”
“I just came to see what hate looked like,” Gill answered.
“Well, more importantly, what are you doing with another man’s wife?” the protester asked. “Don’t you know that divorce plus remarriage equals adultery?”
Gill responded with another question: “Don’t you know that you f—kers are lucky that you don’t have a sign that says something about my wife?”
Pointing to another picketer, Gill said: “I’ve seen you on TV, man. You’re a big dipshit.”
The video ends with Vince asking the protestors if any of them were Phelpses (the family behind the hate group), “Or are you guys like the C-team?”
Whether or not it was the dictating monarch Fred Phelps or his family, they group should learn a lesson about messing with Country crooners and their wives; you just don’t cross that line.
