Lady Gaga Apologies For Rift With Christina Aguilera

In an interview with Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live, Lady Gaga had a blast and chatted about loads of things, one of them being the old feud between her and Christina Aguilera. Back in 2010, when Gaga was just starting to take over the world, Christina released her controversial record Bionic.

“Why was it controversial?”, you might ask. Well, among other things, critics lashed out at her for “chasing [Gaga’s] sound” and image, as Cohen mentioned in the interview.

The XTina – Gaga feud created a schism in the pop music fanbases, with much speculation, rumors saying Gaga’s crew were working to sink the Lotus ship, Christina not promoting the album thanks to this, et cetera – Gaga finally opened up about this topic.

I just think it’s very unfair for anybody to pit another woman against another woman. Especially in the space of music when we are all just trying to be taken seriously”, Gaga said. “I just think that it’s total nonsense the way that they do that”.

She also mentioned that she thinks Christina is “an incredible vocalist, and an incredible artist and that she is “a very big fan” of her.

Last year, prior to the release of Lotus, Aguilera commented on the backlash at Bionic:

“I can proudly say [Bionic] was ahead of its time, to be honest. It wasn’t so commercialized. You had to really be a music lover, be a true fan of music and the love of being open to really appreciate that record.”

Gaga apologized for anything anyone might have ever said or done to her “because of [her] existence” and that Christina is one of her inspirations.
