Rosie Clarke

Staff Writer

Things are all go for Ben Affleck at the moment! Since Argo came out it feels like he’s been hitting the headlines pretty hard and now we’ve discovered that he’ll be making his TV directing debut later this year.

According to Digital Spy, Affleck will be directing a new Fox ordered crime drama pilot written by Glenn Gordon Caron, the creator of Moonlighting (that show where Bruce Willis had hair) and Medium (oh Medium, why’d you have to switch to CBS after season 5?).

Titled The Middle Man, Affleck’s latest project will be set in 1960s Boston and will focus on FBI Agent, Rudy MacAteer as he attempts to take down the Italian mafia with his Irish-American informant, Mickey Flood. Okay that’s a pretty cool name.

According to the show’s synopsis, Rudy finds himself on the other side of the law when his investigation accidentally creates an Irish mob.

Pearl Street Films will produce the series, with Affleck and Caron both acting as executive producers, and Caron will weigh in as showrunner if the pilot gets picked up for a full season next spring.

With filming on the cards for early 2014, imminent casting is expected and we will keep you informed as ever.

We are definitely looking forward to seeing this pilot!
