HBO has picked up Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof’s new 10-episode drama, The Leftovers, according to a report by TVLine.

Based on Tom Perrotta’s 2011 novel, the story takes place three years after the event of the Rapture. For those unfamiliar with the concept, it is a Christian belief that those who believe in Jesus Christ will be sent off to heaven, away from the hardships of earth.

As you can easily guess from the title, the show will chronicle the lives of those unlucky individuals left behind, known as The Leftovers.

It primarily focuses on police chief Kevin Garvey (Justin Theroux), a father of two whose wife Laurie (Amy Brennenman) leaves their family to join a mysterious cult.

The cast also includes Liv Tyler as a woman targeted by a cult, Emily Meade as a high schooler undaunted by the event and Teen Wolf twins Max and Charlie Carver.

The pilot episode for The Leftovers is directed by Peter Berg and co-written by Lindelof and Perrotta. Its premiere date has yet to be announced.
