Gina Torres has become well-known for playing some pretty tough chicks over the years. She has played characters like Cleopatra on Xena, a freelance assassin on Alias, an evil god on Angel, a pirate queen on Hercules, as well as Zoe on the short-lived series, Firefly.

It’s also no secret that she has been pretty vocal about the fact that she would love to play Wonder Woman herself on the big screen someday. Not only has she stated her desire on numerous occasions, but also her fans have gotten behind her completely, campaigning for the dream to become a reality during her Firefly days.

It looks like Torres and her fans are still holding onto that dream, too. Speaking to Vulture about the role and campaign, she said, “You know, she is a superhero that has been part of my life since I can remember, and it is incredibly gratifying and heartwarming and wonderful that this campaign continues to have a life – even though it might be maybe three or four people that are keeping it alive.”

She added, “It’s a hoot that every now and then, all these years go by, and people are thinking that I could do that; I could make that wonderful and they will come and see it. I can’t even tell you how that feels.”

Torres is currently seen on the USA Network as Jessica Pearson on Suits.
