There’s something very compelling about watching one person play multiple roles, weather it be a pair of twins, a pair of triplets, or 10 different clones.
That last one is referring to actress Tatiana Maslany who is the star of BBC America’s breakout show, Orphan Black. In the show, Maslany plays Sarah Manning who after watching her doppelganger step out in front of a moving train, finds out that she herself is one of 10 known clones.
With so much hype surrounding the series, it was only a matter of time before it was picked up by other channels wanting to get in on the action, which is what happened when BBC Three picked up the series.
According to Digital Spy, there has been much debate about whether the show will be a hit in the UK. Some critics argue that while her Canadian and US clones are good, Maslany (a native Canadian) just couldn’t quite nail the accents of the English and German clones.
And there’s always the reality that over time the clones will be too like each other instead of their own separate and distinct personalities other critics have said.
Both the show and the actress herself have gained lavish reviews since the premiere, and there have even been a few campaigns asking for Emmy nominations for Tatiana’s work on the show.
Orphan Black has already been renewed for a second series, which is set to air in April of next year.
