A lot of people must have gone “huh?” during last night’s Emmy Awards, at the mention of a song called “Rural Janitor” which apparently featured on 30 Rock. But who actually remembers that song, because we sure don’t.
During last night’s awards as Tina Fey and Tracey Wigfield were going up to collect their Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series, the announcer credited the duo for also being nominated for writing the lyrics to 30 Rock‘s “Rural Janitor”. You would be forgiven for having muttered an inaudible “excuse me?” or immediately taken to Google to search for this mysterious song. However, any faithful 30 Rocker could tell you that the song is actually called “Rural Juror”.
“Rural Juror” featured in the closing of the 30 Rock series finale, sung by Jenna (Jane Krakowski). Though the ballad was mostly slurred, it highlighted the serie’s and writers’ amazing ability to be exceptionally funny and entertaining.
The song however lost to “If I Had Time” from the Tony Awards.
Well for those of us who had no idea what song they were talking about, we know about it now. Now that we know the correct title that is…
