James Gandolfini’s Final Role To Be Filled By Hollywood Veteran

In the wake of the tragic and sudden death of Sopranos star James Gandolfini, producers of a new HBO miniseries, entitled Criminal Justice, have been scrambling to find Gandolfini’s replacement, as he was their star. In fact, he had already shot the pilot episode. According to Digital Spy via Deadline, while the pilot will be scrapped, Gandolfini will retain the credit of posthumous producer.

But the big question is: who will star in the series now that Gandolfini is no longer with us? Well, Robert De Niro, of course! Who better to step into the pretend mobster’s shoes than another pretend mobster?

Criminal Justice is currently a series on BBC, and will be adapted for American audiences. It will feature De Niro as a hard-taking, ethically-ambiguous, ambulance-chasing attorney.

That certainly sounds like something that would be right in De Niro’s wheelhouse!
