Tina Fey will be hosting the season premiere of Saturday Night Live this weekend making it her fourth time hosting the show. Fey recently joked to The AP that she is more than willing to let the cast shine in the season premiere Saturday.
“I have nothing to promote, so we’ve got plenty of time for other things,” Fey teased. “Two, I’m always happy to play straight person, so, hopefully, the cast will get to do more than when they have other kinds of hosts. You might get to see those new guys more. Although I’m not promising their parents anything.”
Speaking of new players Saturday Night Live is welcoming six new people to the featured cast: Beck Bennett, John Milhiser, Kyle Mooney, Mike O’Brien, Noel Wells, and Brooks Wheelan.
The new cast members certainly will have some high expectations on them. Producer Lorne Michaels added that viewers shouldn’t expect the new featured players to make a major impact in their first show.
“The intent is always to go slowly and not put anyone out there unless you feel they can score,” Michaels explained.
Also debuting is previous featured cast member Cecily Strong as Seth Meyers’s new co-anchor for the Weekend Update segment.
Promos for the season premiere have been released featuring host, Tina Fey, and cast member, Kenan Thompson.
