Another Disney Villainess Is Getting Her Own Film!

Staff Writer

It seems like Disney has jumped on the villainess bandwagon! In addition to Maleficent (Due out in 2014) Ms. Cruella De Vil will be getting her own feature film! Disney announced that writer Aline Brosh McKenna, who is also penning Cinderella, will take the helm to pen the fur coat loving villainesses’ journey to evil.

Joining McKenna on the project will be producer Joe Roth who is also her colleague on the studio’s upcoming live action take on Cinderella. Roth is no stranger to villains as he worked on Oz the Great and Powerful, Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, and most recently Maleficent. Also joining the team from the upcoming Cinderella adaptation is director Kevin Branagh.

This won’t be De Vil’s first foray into the live action setting. She was previously (and fantastically) played by Glenn Close in 101 Dalmatians in 1996 and the 2000 sequel 102 Dalmatians. Unfortunately Miss Close will not be reprising her role. No word, as yet, on who will be filling her shoes. Cruella is set for a 2015 release.
