We all love a good reality competition, and after the success of American Idol; singing competitions were popping up left and right.
Not all of them were successful, but The Voice on NBC as proven to be a force to be reckoned with. It could be that it skips all the dreadful auditions that many of love to hate on the other popular shows and just gets right down to some genuinely good singers.
Whatever the case may be, the hit show with celebrity judges Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton, Adam Levine and Cee Lo Green just took home an Emmy for Outstanding Reality Series Competition and at least one famous reality show judge “doesn’t give a shit.”
Simon Cowell, recently commented to The Hollywood Reporter that all he cares about for the X Factor is ratings. The third season of the US version of the show continues to disappoint in that department, but Simon may have a trick up his sleeve: the Four Chair Challenge.
“This came form X Factor Holland, where they used it very successfully,” Cowell explained of the format, which allows judges to swap out their picks from 10 semifinalists until a final four is chosen. “We elaborated on it, and it’s very different than anything we’ve done before,” he continued. “This is probably some of the most exciting TV we’ve made on one of these shows. It is dramatic, it is controversial, but we all love that …”
Tune in tomorrow night to catch all the action happening with Simon, Demi, Kelly and Paulina!
Until then, check out Ellona Santiago’s fantastic audition:
