According to Miley Cyrus, everything she has been doing lately is all a matter of strategy.

In the new MTV documentary, Miley: The Movement, cameras follow Cyrus’ journey of becoming a more independent and grown-up musician. In her documentary, she confesses her recent string of controversial behavior has been all part of a larger plan for her career.

“You’re always going to make people talk,” she says in her documentary trailer, “you might as well make them talk for, like, two weeks rather than two seconds.”

Most recently, Cyrus has been harshly criticized by both fans and celebs for her highly sexualized MTV Video Music Awards performances of her popular song “We Can’t Stop,” as well as her performance during Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines.” Shortly after, she released her latest single, “Wrecking Ball” in which she swings from a wrecking ball while naked.

“People can look at the VMA performance and think it’s a hot mess. It’s a strategic hot mess,” she said.
Cyrus says that she has thought out her actions and it represents a much larger plan, despite what many people seem to believe. She wants to push the envelope and step into a different image, away from her Disney Channel Hannah Montana days.

Miley: The Movement will premiere tonight (Oct. 2) at 10 pm ET/PT on MTV.
