Orlando Bloom Gets Sentimental On His Return to Middle Earth for Desolation of Smaug

Dropping by NBC’s Today Show to promote The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, Orlando Bloom got sentimental about returning to the role of Legolas after ten years.

“It was a joy,” said Bloom. “I had such a wonderful time playing the character to begin with. To get the call to come back and don the long wig and pointy ears was just wonderful. He’s a great, fun character. There’s nothing not to like about him. He’s the action elf.”

Bloom returns as Legolas in the sequel to The Hobbit, which sees him fighting off hordes of baddies – and a new love interest, played by Evangeline Lilly.
