Letterman Inks Deal To Stay With Late Night Until 2015

Despite longstanding rumours that David Letterman was preparing to retire in the near future, CBS has announced that the man at the helm of the Late Show has extended his contract and will continue on as the network’s late-night star through 2015.

Letterman is already the longest tenured talk show host on late night television, having already surpassed Johnny Carson’s 30 year record hosting The Tonight Show on NBC. This newly inked deal with see Letterman reach 33 years on the air as a late night host.

“There is only one Dave, and we are extremely proud that he continues to call CBS home,” Leslie Moonves, CBS’ CEO said in a statement. To which Letterman replied, “I needed a little more time to fully run the show into the ground.”

David Letterman is amongst the most nominated people in Emmy Award history having received 52 nominations either as a writer, producer, performer or as part of a writing team.

The Late Show With David Letterman airs on CBS weeknights at 11:35pm ET
