Good news for Fall Out Boy fans! The band has released a stream of Pax Am Days on their official Vevo YouTube channel, just a week ahead of the EP’s release.
The Chicago-based band’s eight-track album was heavily influenced by ’80s and ’90s groups such as Metallica and Screeching Weasel.
“That’s the music that got us into playing as Fall Out Boy and we wanted to pay homage to that,” said bassist Pete Wentz in an interview with KROQ.com. “I think, for bands like us, we can be a gateway. We can say like, ‘Hey, check out these other bands we grew up with do.’”
Wentz also credits producer Ryan Adams as a positive influence on their music. He explained: “Ryan’s brain works in such a divergent way. One minute he’s telling a joke about kale salad and the next minute we’re talking about old punk rock. I think that in some way it’s childlike wonder, and in some ways it’s so genius and different. He’s such an outside-of-the-box thinker – it was really good for our band.”
Pax Am Days is set for an October 14 release date in the U.K. and a day after in the U.S.
The tracklist is as follows:
1. We Were Doomed From The Start (The King Is Dead)
2. Art of Keeping Up Disappearances
3. Hot To the Touch, Cold On the Inside
4. Love, Sex, Death
5. Eternal Summer
6. Demigods
7. American Made
8. Caffeine Cold
