Can you imagine Friends without Rachel? If not, could you imagine another actress cast as that character? That almost actually happened!
Jennifer Aniston admits that even after being cast, she wasn’t sure if she would be axed from the show. The producers weren’t even sure if Aniston would be playing the iconic character. Her role in the show was so uncertain that when they shot the cast promos she “was asked to step out of the bunch.”
In fact, her future with Friends was so uncertain that she actually started filming a second pilot in 1994. Aniston, however, did not need to worry. She got to keep the part.
While it seems the actress also loved being on the show, the Friends actress also has some bittersweet thoughts pertaining to a movie based on the hit comedy.
“I do [miss it and love it] too. I’d honestly go back to it if we could, I would,” Aniston recently said. She added that fans today might not want to see the gang.
She also wishes they had filmed more episodes. Matthew Perry and Lisa Kudrow have the same sentiments. In fact, if Perry had a time machine, he claimed “he would go back to 2004 and not have stopped making the NBC series.”
To contrast Perry’s remarks, Kudrow is a bit more prudent about how much filming should have happened.
“I figure there probably would’ve come a time anyway when someone would’ve said, ‘We’ve had enough,’ but why not have fun until they do?” she recently mused in an interview.
Amazingly, the show aired for 10 seasons. There were nearly 240 episodes filmed in its run (236 to be precise). That is quite an achievement! Would you want a movie? Or would you have rather have more episodes? Please, leave your comments below!
