Last night the Glee family all said goodbye to our beloved “quarterback” Finn. The newest Glee episode paid tribute to the Cory Monteith the best way possible through song. Many Gleeks past and present tuned in to pay respect and say goodbye to a character who has surely touched many lives.

“The Quarterback” brought in 7.4 million viewers, a substantial increase from the previous two episodes of the season and represented a 75 percent increase from recent episodes. In fact Finn’s tribute episode had Fox’s best demo numbers since September 2012. Proving how much Cory/Finn meant to such a wonderful show, and fandom.

Even though we all said goodbye to Finn, he will still have a “presence” in the show.  Ryan Murphy, Glee creator, explains his intention to keep Finn present, “I just made a decision that we keep mentioning Finn. We don’t just say this is done and we’re never going to go back to it, so that resonates throughout the year. We’re trying to be sensitive and also have some fun and go back to some optimistic stories. I think he would have wanted that, he always loved that about the show.”

“The Quarterback” was filled with unforgettable performances, and breathtaking songs that left viewers speechless.  As hard as it was for fans to watch it was incredibly difficult for the cast and crew to create such a moving goodbye. Murphy said this episode “had to be done to honor their fallen friend”  he continued to explain.

“So the episode is about how all the people loved Cory and find it really hard to go on with the show so to speak, but that’s the whole point of this show.”  Although it is hard to say goodbye, the cast and crew of Glee paid tribute to a loveable person, and allowed the Glee family and fans to celebrate a life of a character many people loved dearly.
