The Simpsons executive producer Al Jean revealed recently that the long running animated comedy was set to kill off one of its characters. The only clue he would reveal was that the person responsible for bringing the character to life, had won an Emmy for their work.
In news today, Entertainment Weekly have reported that that the voice actor behind the character isn’t even aware yet that their character will be leaving the show. “They don’t know yet,” Jean remarked. Adding, “It’ll be bigger than ‘Who shot J.R.?’ but not as big as ‘Who shot Mr. Burns?”
When asked why the character has to die, Al replied, “It’s an emotional story,” but was quick to comment on the manner of death by saying, “It’s funny”
Elaborating further, Jean added that the character would exit the show in the season 26 premiere but promised that “We’ll be putting out a lot of false leads in the coming months to try to trick people into watching the premiere.”
The 25th season of The Simpsons kicked off recently and airs on FOX, Sunday nights at 8pm.
