Get ready to rock to the bang bang boogie, because Sandra Bullock performed The Sugarhill Gang’s hip-hop anthem “Rapper’s Delight” on The Jonathon Ross Show this Saturday night.
Bullock explained that she and Gravity co-star George Clooney would rap to the song while on the set of their latest hit. She mentioned to Ross that she and Clooney had known each other “embarrassingly, over 20 years.”  She continued to reveal her shenanigans on the set by saying, “we were either making fun of our director… or we would rap off to an old rap song that we both knew from high school.”
But how did Bullock learn these unforgettable lyrics? She said it was all to impress a boy.  “I was like, ‘Next time I go to that dance, I’m going to know every word. I’m going to make sure he sees me lip-syncing it, and I’m going to catch his eye,’” she said. After her performance, Bullock joked that she thought learning the bridge to the song wasn’t necessary for her luring of her man.
Doubling her performing power on the show, Bullock also played along to the song “Chopsticks” on a floor piano just like in the movie Big.
Speaking of Big, actor Tom Hanks appeared earlier in the show to recreate the scene himself and talk about his grandchildren, his upcoming movie Captain Phillips, and his what he would be if he wasn’t an actor (hint: it’s a park ranger).

Hanks said he would like to be “one of those guys that explain the history of where you are,” He continued, “I would never have made anything up but I would have made it so fascinating that people would come back again and again and again.”
Also appearing in the show was singer Cilla Black, who recently turned 70, and revealed to Ross how her unusual birthday celebration went.  Black spent her birthday at LA’s Viper Room, and eventually ended up “in a gay bar at three o’clock in the morning” with two new American friends.
New episodes of The Jonathon Ross Show air Saturdays at 10:15 on ITV.
