Betty White Joins Forces With Air New Zealand To Ensure Passenger Safety

When you think of New Zealand, I would guess that images from Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit trilogies, maybe some sheep or perhaps its beautiful natural beauty from soaring mountains to crystal clear streams immediately come to mind. One thing you wouldn’t associate with the land of the long white cloud is Hot in Cleveland and Golden Girls star, Betty White. However, that is exactly who Air New Zealand have chosen for their latest in-flight safety video.

The video, “Safety Old School Style” showcases White and “a cast of golden oldies”, was launched on all Air New Zealand Airbus A320 flights this week. Included in the cast is her former Mary Tyler Moore Show co-star, Gavin MacLeod.

Set in a retirement resort full of active senior citizens, the cast proceed to demonstrate the aircraft’s safety features because, in the words of White, “If you want to know about survival, talk to us. Because you want folks who have been there and done that.”

This is the latest in a run of “creative and quirky” safety videos produced by the airline. Previous videos have featured the stars of The Hobbit trilogy, Richard Simmons, rugby stars and a nearly naked flight crew.
