What do you get when you combine Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Ewan McGregor, Chris Cooper, Abigail Breslin, Benedict Cumberbatch, Juliette Lewis, Dermot Mulroney, Sam Shepard, and a whole host of other big-name actors? August: Osage County, that’s what!
This star-studded film is a big-screen adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning play by Tracy Letts; and the new promotional poster features an all out cat-fight between Streep and Roberts. And by the looks of it, Roberts is winning.
IMDb’s official description of the story is as follows: “A look at the lives of the strong-willed women of the Weston family, whose paths have diverged until a family crisis brings them back to the Oklahoma house they grew up in, and to the dysfunctional woman who raised them.” Sounds like family drama at its finest.
Boasting a cast such as this one, I have a feeling we will be hearing much more about August: Osage County before its December 25 release date. What could be appropriate than releasing a film centered around the intricacies and dysfunction of a family on Christmas day?
