It seems like we’re always comparing the things of yesteryear, to the “new” variations of what we have today.
Every time a book series gets popular it’s “the new Harry Potter.” When male musicians grab female attention across the globe, they’re “the new Beatles.”
However, country singer Taylor Swift denied being as big as Madonna after comparisons were made due to her being the first solo female artist to play an Australian stadium tour since Madge did it 20 years ago.
“I would never see myself that way,” The 23 year old said. “I see myself as kind of this girl who writes songs in her bedroom.”
I’m not sure how many everyday girls who write songs in their bedrooms have seven Grammys, seven CMAs, and eleven AMAs, but to each her own, right?
“You can kind of dress it up all you want,” Swift continued “and you can put together an amazing theatrical production…but I’m always going to be a girl who writes songs in her bedroom in my own personal perception of myself…it’s just easier to think of myself that way.”
Taylor’s Australian stadium tour takes place later this year.
