Robert Downey Jr Soars To The Top Of Vulture’s 100 Most Valuable Stars Of 2013

Well would you look at that? Iron Man actor, Robert Downey Jr., has been named Vulture’s “Most Valuable Star of 2013”, hailing him as “the King” of the list- daring anyone to argue. It’s unsurprising considering he also topped this year’s Forbes’ list of “Hollywood’s Highest Paid” and Vulture combines domestic and overseas box office totals along with likeability, Oscars, studio value, Twitter mentions, critics’ scores and tabloid value in order to compile the list.

Interesting, and adorable, to note that the number two spot went to Leonardo DiCaprio who the list dubbed “The Star Who Started Smiling Again” due to recent success and copious amounts of fun had through Django Unchained  and The Great Gatsby.

Number three went to the ever popular Jennifer Lawrence, “the Breakthrough BFF” whose amazing derp-face and personality only added to her acting talent which won her an Oscar for Silver Linings Playbook. Despite her Oscar win and success in two major franchises (The Hunger Games and X-Men), Lawrence has done what many a young actress in Hollywood has struggled with – navigating that fame graciously and so entertainingly as to win over the internet.

Capping off the top five are Sandra Bullock at four and Brad Pitt at number five as “the Never Been Better Superstar” and “The Golden Boy” respectively. Bullock recently flew back onto the scene with perhaps one of the funniest comedies of the year, The Heat (co star, Melissa McCarthy currently sits pretty at number twenty-seven as “The Sure Thing”) and now with the best-reviewed movie of the year, Gravity, perhaps drawing in another Oscar nod. Pitt’s World War Z was plagued by rewrites, reshoots and director freeze-out but rather than hinder it, once the movie came out it might well be Brad Pitt’s biggest hit ever taking in $202 million domestically.

The rest of the list carries on in suit, featuring some interesting and sometimes surprising names. However at the top is where everyone wants to be, right? And that’s where RDJ sits, on his throne made of gold, rainbows and discarded precious metal from his Iron Man suit. Seen the list? Do any of your favourites feature?
