Paul McCartney Channels Inner Medium To Collaborate With An Old Friend

Paul McCartney has apparently been getting in touch with his inner medium while doing his song-writing.

The 71-year-old rocker speaks to and channels his late band-mate John Lennon when writing new material; like his freshly-released 24th solo album, aptly named, New.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, McCartney stated that, “”If I’m at a point where I go, ‘I’m not sure about this’, I’ll throw it across the room to John. He’ll say, ‘You can’t go there, man’. And I’ll say, ‘You’re quite right. How about this?’ ‘Yeah, that’s better’. We’ll have a conversation. I don’t want to lose that.”

Well, that’s a little strange, I guess. But way cool, too. I’d love to have a few words with Mr. Lennon.

McCartney also revealed that he has smoothed over his contentious relationship with Lennon’s widow, and, reason The Beatles broke up in the first place, if you believe popular opinion.

“I thought, ‘If John loved her, there’s got to be something. He’s not stupid.’ It’s like, what are you going to do? Are you going to hold a grudge you never really had?”

“George Harrison would say to me, ‘You don’t want stuff like that hanging around in your life.’”

McCartney also touched on the unsavory subject of Lennon’s murderer, Mark David Chapman. And I believe his sentiments are probably shared by the masses: “I think I could pretty much forgive anyone else. But I don’t see why I’d want to forgive him. This is a guy who did something so crazy and terminal. Why should I bless him with forgiveness?”

Hey, nobody ever claimed Sir Paul was perfect, right? I can’t really say I blame him for his unwillingness to let bygones be bygones with the cold-blooded murderer who stole such a legend from us.
And because this is an article about McCartney, and because I always capitolize on any chance to share The Beatles, check out The Fab Four performing “In My Life,” one of my personal favorites. Enjoy!
