“We’re all in this together,” Katy Perry told the crowd at the Hollywood Bowl during her We Can Survive benefit concert last night.
“We Can Survive raised funds for the Young Survival Coalition, an organization supporting young women battling breast cancer,” reports Radio.
The event was Katy’s creation and following the release of her varied new album, Prism, the pop songstress gathered together an eclectic group of her Pop sisters to join her for the show.
All stars in their own right, the all-female lineup was impressive; Sara Bareilles, Ellie Goulding, Tegan and Sarah, Kacey Musgrave and Bonnie McKee. Each power house performer belted out their respective hits in brief back-to-back sets.
Bareilles told the crowd, “Be exactly who you are, there’s love waiting for you,” as she sang her hits like “Brave” and “Gravity.” The latter she dedicated to a friend who had recently beat breast cancer.
After each set was completed and Katy and rocked out to her past hits and current singles, all the ladies joined together to close the night with a powerful rendition of Katy’s hit single, “Roar.”
All in all, there was a little something that everyone could enjoy; not to mention the whole event was raising money for a worthy cause.
If you didn’t make it to the show, you can still donate and support a cause close to Katy’s heart. Radio.com (the event host) gives these instructions, “To donate directly to Young Survival Coalition, head to the YSC site or text “SURVIVE” to 80888 to give a one-time donation of $10.”
