Paramount’s thriller Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit has officially been moved from Christmas Day to January 17, 2014.
According to CBS News, rumors had been circling before this announcement that the film’s release date would be rescheduled because of a conflict with another movie – The Wolf of Wall Street.
Martin Scorcese’s film, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Matthew McCounaghey, may be changed from its November 15 date to Christmas Day, because Scorsese wants extra time for editing before release.
It’s believed that Jack Ryan has been pushed back to January in order to incorporate this time extension.
In addition, ComingSoon.net reports that the Kenneth Branagh film will now include an IMAX release, and that will share an opening weekend with releases from three other studios–horror flick Devil’s Due, animated comedy Nut Job, and action comedy Ride Along.
Star Trek Into Darkness’ Chris Pine portrays Jack Ryan, a CIA analyst who discovers a planned Russian terrorist plot on the United States.
Pine’s role is based on a character created in the series of novels written by the late Tom Clancy. Man of Steel’s Kevin Costner and Anna Karenina’s Keira Knightley costar.
Shadow Recruit will be the fifth feature film based on Clancy’s novels. It follows in the footsteps of Alec Baldwin in The Hunt for Red October, Harrison Ford in Clear and Present Danger and Patriot Games, and most recently Ben Affleck in The Sum of All Fears.
