According to Jones, the Jackson estate and Sony Music Entertainment have purposefully re-produced the songs from these LPs purely to ensure that he will no longer be entitled to royalties and fees.

Embroiled in the lawsuit, is an alleged agreement between the estate and Jones, which gave Jones the right to remix master recordings of Jackson’s hits to be released posthumously. Jones claims he owed further compensation as this agreement was broken.

The Jackson estate has since released a statement, announcing its disappointment in Jones’s legal action. “To the best of its knowledge, Mr Jones has been appropriately compensated over approximately 35 years for his work with Michael.”

Notably the  Jackson’s family lost a civil case against AEG Live earlier this month. They had  claimed the promoter was guilty of criminal negligence and had consequently caused Michael Jackson’s untimely 2009 demise.
