Auto-play videos, which is the latest rumored advertising strategy for Facebook, have been delayed until next year.

It is being reported that advertising clients of Facebook have been told not to expect the unveiling of auto-play videos before 2014, despite its anticipated release for the first half of this year.

Since then, the release date has been pushed back continuously. The social network giant has taken precautions in delaying this strategy because they want to gauge how users interact with similar content, such as noncommercial auto-playing video that appear in a user’s news feed, so not to risk upsetting users with the ads. Though these videos will play automatically, they will be muted unless turned on by the viewer.

Once implemented, Morgan Stanley’s estimate Facebook could bring in $1 billion from video ads alone.
