In an interview with Billboard, N.E.R.D front man, Pharrell Williams, revealed that he will join legendary film composer Hans Zimmer to score The Amazing Spider-Man sequel. This unlikely duo has already worked well together in the past; firstly on 2010s Despicable Me soundtrack, and also on this year’s Man of Steel score. As Zimmer composed the epic Superman reboot, Pharell drummed his way into the world of superheroes.
Pharrell has dominated the charts this year, featuring on Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” and Daft Punk’s international summer soundtrack “Get Lucky.” The 40-year-old (yes 40!) singer and producer appears to be weaving his musical web further, and definitely respects the talents of Hans Zimmer.
Last week he posted a picture of the two of them on his Facebook page. The caption read, “Hans Zimmer is like the king of all kings. I carry his books, sharpen his pencils, get his coffee, and I listen to every punctuation that comes out of his mouth. He is a genius.”
Hans’ musical resume boasts blockbusters such as Pearl Harbor, Gladiator and The Dark Knight Rises. Understanding how music can bring a picture to life, he bagged the awards for Best Composer and Outstanding Contribution to Music at this month’s Classical Brit Awards.
It’s not yet understood the level of involvement Pharrell will have in the music for the motion picture, but it’s sure to be Marvel-ous!
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will star Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone and Jamie Foxx. The film is set for UK release in April 2014 and US release May 2014.
