A Very Glee Christmas. Yes, No, Maybe?

TV Line have put forth the speculation that Glee may in fact be giving us a Christmas episode this year, despite earlier reports to the contrary.

In today’s (October 29) edition of “Ask Ausiello” one fan sent in the question “Is Glee doing a Christmas episode this season” to which he replied “Affirmative. In addition to featuring an alcoholic shopping mall Santa (is there any other kind?), the holiday-themed Dec. 5 outing will mark the introduction of Cody, an extremely handsome and charming manipulator who, curiously, will not be doing any singing or dancing”

However, once this news hit, Gleeks were quick to point out the aforementioned reports that there would be no Christmas album released this year, as well as the fact that a Christmas episode at this point in the Glee timeline, just wouldn’t fit.

Shortly thereafter, there was an alteration to the response given by Ausiello. The answer now reads

Maybe. As several clued-in readers pointed out below, Glee‘s current timeline doesn’t exactly lend itself to a holiday episode, but the show did recently put out a casting call for an alcoholic shopping mall Santa (is there any other kind?). In that same Dec. 5 outing, we’ll meet Cody, an extremely handsome and charming manipulator who, curiously, will not be doing any singing or dancing.”

So, the question now is, why would they need a Santa if there is no Christmas episode?

Perhaps there may not be an entire episode dedicated to the holiday, full of carols, ornamented trees and tinsel, but it seems to appear that there may be something Christmas-y happening in the near future.
