The filming of Lucy, starring Scarlett Johansson, in Taiwan look like it has been cut short due to the constant harassment of the cast and crew by the media.

Luc Besson, according to China Times, as reported by Hollywood Reporter, has had it with the paparazzi hounding his cast and crew at every turn while filming on location in Taipei for the upcoming-action thriller, Lucy, in which Johansson plays a drug mule who develops superpowers after the substance she carries accidentally enters her body and she becomes a fighting machine.

The director has stated that while filming the project has been plagued by photographers and media, and several incidents have gone south. In one incident Besson’s crew were nearly involved in a motor-vehicle accident with a car driven by local press. The Taipei mayor had urged the press to be more cautious and to ‘exercise more self-restraint, however after a few more incidents, one of which involved the police being called out, the production was cut as the director considered returning to Europe following the harassment.
