In just over three weeks the world will have their appetites appeased as Hunger Games: Catching Fire hits theaters.
Variety recently did a story on the film franchise, Lionsgate and the Girl On Fire herself, Jennifer Lawrence; painting a picture of how the first film boosted Lionsgate Films and solidified Lawrence as one of the most sought after stars in Hollywood. Director Gary Ross recalled seeing Lawrence audition for the role, “I got choked up,” he says. “You only see that kind of talent once in a generation — that kind of intensity and emotional power. If you don’t find the right performer, you don’t have the movie. So I felt like, ‘Now I can make the movie.’”
Even though the 23 year old actress has won an Oscar (Silver Linings Playbook), she still finds the task of playing the iconic heroine of Katniss a daunting one at times. “It’s weird dealing with this being as big as it is,” she concedes. “I’ve never been on another film where we actually talk about the fan base. It’s sort of like this Big Brother looking over us.”
In celebration of the forthcoming film, Variety has also shared some exclusive photos from the film.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is released on November 22.
