Broadway 2014 is shaping up to be THE place to be seen making your debut. First James Franco looks set to finally tread the boards of the Great White Way in Of Mice and Men. Emma Thompson will be appearing in Steven Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street in March. Now it appears as if Ewan McGregor will be joining the list.

Deadline announced yesterday that McGregor will be starring in the revival of Tom Stoppard’s The Real Thing in the fall of 2014. The play, set in 1982 London, is an examination of honesty explored by looking at the relationship between Henry and Annie. Henry, a playwright, is married to his lead actress, Charlotte. They are currently working on a play about a marriage that is ending. Meanwhile, Henry is conducting an affair with their friend Annie. However, life starts imitating art as his own marriage starts to crumble.

McGregor will star as Henry. No other casting details have been released at this time.

The Sam Gold directed production will go into previews at the American Airlines Theatre on October 2, 2014. It will open October 30 with a run through to January 4, 2015.
