A North American tour has just been announced by Sting and Paul Simon.
The tour, which is to last 18 dates, will start in February 2014. The pair will even play Madison Square Garden on March 4 with more dates to be announced soon.
Despite the exciting news, Sting has some doubts regarding how the shows will turn out. Speaking to The New York Times, he said, “We don’t really know where this is going, we don’t really have a clue how this is going to pan out.”
Sting and Simon performed together for the Robin Hood Foundation in May. It’s likely that the pair will perform some of their own hits as well as duets together similar to the acoustic versions of Simon Garfunkel song ‘The Boxer’ and Sting’s ‘Fields of Gold’.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the idea to start a duet tour, Simon revealed, “After we finished it (the Robin Hood Foundation concert), we both looked at each other and said, ‘Wow, that’s pretty interesting’.”
He went on to joke that the tour should be named after both of their biggest songs and be called ‘The Sound of Every Breath’. However, the actual name of the show will be ‘Paul Simon and Sting: On Stage Together’.
