Marvel fans rejoice! The Verge has just announced that Netflix will be teaming up with the action-packed franchise to create several new superhero series in a style similar to the Avengers.

This project will be a Netflix 2015 exclusive, with the first of the TV series following the hero Daredevil. Other series will include heroes Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage. Each series is said to contain at least thirteen (13) episodes and are rumored to come together for a special event—in true Marvel fashion!

The special event will also be a Netflix exclusive, called The Defenders. It is not known how long this particular project will run.

Alan Fine, President of Marvel Entertainment, stated: “This serialized epic expands the narrative possibilities of on-demand television and gives fans the flexibility to immerse themselves how and when they want in what’s sure to be a thrilling and engaging adventure.”

Sources have announced that the series will be set in Hell’s Kitchen, NY, and take place over several years. While Marvel’s cinematic style dances between the realistic and the comic-esque, this Netflix series is said to have a gritty take on the norm.

After its foray into Arrested Development, this is Netflix’s biggest commitment to the television industry. Marvel and Netflix will both benefit from this jointure—and attract a lot of attention in the process.

But this isn’t the first time Netflix has been on Marvel’s radar. Their first major deal involved Netflix being given the rights to stream Disney, Marvel, and Pixar movies that are set to start in 2016.

Although it will be a while before the first of this series collection is set to air on the streaming site, this deal sets Netflix even higher above competing medias such as Amazon Video and Hulu. In order to keep this status, Netflix has said that it will do anything to make this Marvel project a reality—no matter the cost of production.

Keep your eyes on the skies—Marvel and Netflix are set to premiere the first Daredevil episode sometime in 2015!
