Head Of Marvel Television Says Expect To See More Marvel Television In Your Future

Marvel fans, take your starting positions! The comic giant’s head of television, Jeph Loeb, confirms that their TV output will expand in the near future. But, as he tells Ain’t It Cool News, finding the right series to air alongside Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D will all depend on “finding the right showrunner.”

He clarifies by saying, “If you look in genre television at the best of those shows – Ron Moore on Battlestar Galactica, Damon Lindelof on Lost and then Joss [Whedon] on BuffyAngelFirefly and Dollhouse – there is a single mind or a single vision that is going along with it.”

But it’s more than just having the right personality. The next great mind behind Marvel’s releases needs to have a goal similar to what the fanbase wants to see. It’s having enough common ground outside and inside the industry, and the proper amount of amiability to make it happen.

“When the right person is matched with the right property, that is when we will make the next exciting announcement from Marvel Television.”

Loeb goes on to compliment Marvel’s planning in the movie industry, saying that their television output may follow that same style.

“They started out very simply in that they made Iron Man and then they made Iron Man 2. Then, in one year, they doubled the production and made Thor and Captain America, which led to The Avengers.

“That’s a very smart way of telling your audience that you care deeply about what it is you are making.”

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D currently airs on ABC in the US, and channel 4 in the UK.
