Rock band The Killers will celebrate ten years together by releasing their first greatest hits album, Direct Hits, next week.

The release will also mark the beginning of a hiatus for the four-piece.

Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter about the planned break, drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr. said, “I think everybody is looking forward to putting their feet up for a little while and having some normalcy. I think it will be a little while. I don’t think it will take us an unnaturally long time to get guys together. But it’s time to take a breather and ground out a little bit.”

Although confirming that The Killers are not calling it quits, Vannucci is already working on some solo music.

“I like to keep moving. I love that notion of momentum. So far, it is sounding like somewhere between ZZ Top and Tron. I think it will be ready when it’s ready—probably next year,” he said of his project.

The Killers are scheduled to perform in Amsterdam on Sunday at the MTV European Music Awards, which will be their last performance before the hiatus.

“It’s one part promotion, one part party, one part art exhibit, and another part vaudeville freak show. It’s cool to be part of that dynamic. It’s a party, so I’m looking forward to being swept into the craziness of it all,” Vannucci said.

Direct Hits features 16 of their biggest tracks over the past decade, as well as the two singles released exclusively for the album—“Shot At The Night” and “Just Another Girl”.

Lead singer Brandon Flowers gave NME detailed descriptions of all 18 songs.

On the two newest additions to The Killer’s long list of singles, he said, “[‘Shot At The Night’ is] very of-the-moment, and it’s classy. It’s not sleazy, and that’s something that I like about it as well. It’s another flavor for us. I love it, I’m really excited about it. We did [‘Just Another Girl’] with Stuart Price, who’s become like my brother now—we work well together, and I’m always impressed with his musicality and his taste. It’s in a different vein from ‘Shot At The Night’, it’s more of a narrative.”

Direct Hits is in stores November 11.
