Meryl Streep never seems to have to worry about not having any work. The Devil Wears Prada star has been asked to play singer Susan Boyle in an upcoming movie about the former contestant from Britain’s Got Talent. The rights to Boyle’s life story have been purchased by Fox Searchlight.
In a recent interview Boyle did with Metro, she had this to say about the upcoming film: “I wouldn’t like to be in the film myself. I’d like someone to play me. Probably Meryl Streep, I understand she has been approached.”
A stage production about the singers life had been touring the UK at one point, with Elaine C. Smith playing Susan Boyle.
If Meryl Streep were to taken on the role of Susan Boyle, this would be the second time in her career that she has done a biopic role, with the first being Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady. It was only earlier this year, when the film One Chance was released, with James Corden playing Paul Potts, former winner of Britain’s Got Talent.
